Home Care Services

There are many things in life that are priceless. For most people, this includes living in the community that they have lived in for years among neighbours, church, friends and family. We help seniors live joyful and healthy lives in the comfort of their own homes or health care facilities by providing quality, compassionate caregivers to assist them with their activities of daily living.

Our home care program provides a wide variety of services from Companion Care to 24-Hour Home Care. We take care of everything including medication management, light housekeeping, assistance with mobility and medical escort to and from appointments. We make it possible for you to continue enjoying your life even with aging and health challenges.

Personal care:

Personal care provides assistance with activities of daily living, which include grooming, dressing, eating, getting in and out of bed, toileting, mobility, bathing and medication reminders. These services are available to clients of all ages and for those experiencing a variety of life-changing illnesses which includes dementia and end-of- life-care.

Homemaking offers clients and their family assistance with regular household tasks. This allows them to maintain a comfortable and safe home environment. This service includes meal preparation, transportation, menu planning, light housekeeping, laundry, grocery shopping, and medication reminders.

Companion attendant:

Alpha health care personnel are available to provide companionship to clients by engaging in conversation, sharing a meal or just simply having coffee together. We offer this service in any setting such as in the privacy of your own home, nursing home, retirement home or hospital. Whatever the need, our staff are trained to ensure that our clients receive the social interaction that will enhance the clients health and wellness which leads to them living a high quality life.

Medical escort / appointments and social events:

This service provides staff to accompany clients to doctor’s appointments or other social and personal appointments such as barbershops, beauty salons, spa, wedding or any social event the client wishes to participate in. We believe that social outings are a good way for our clients to be invigorated in body and spirit.

Dementia care:

Caring for someone with dementia poses many challenges for clients and their families. We offer support for people with Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia by providing well-trained staff who deliver compassionate, respectful personal care with an emphasis on maintaining a safe environment for the client.  Our specially trained staff will provide activities that can improve a person’s quality of life, such as music and other activities to stimulate the senses and allow clients with this disease to live their life with dignity.

End-of-life care:

Our end-of-life care program provides comfort and support to individuals who have been diagnosed with a terminal illness. Our motto, “caring with passion”   comes to light for clients at this stage of life because all our staff take a holistic approach to the delivery of care. Alpha’s personnel provide compassionate personal care; our companion attendant offers emotional, spiritual and psychosocial support to clients and their families.
We work closely in partnership with a hospice agency or any other medical provider to fully meet the needs of our clients and their families. Our ultimate goal is to help families make the most of their time together, helping to lighten  the burden at a very difficult time. Through respite care, family caregivers are able to take a well needed rest.

We also continue to help after a loved one’s passing. Our “caring with passion” personnel help families deal with the grief by assisting with tasks such as organizing personal items, moving belongings or to be there to listen if family members need to talk.

Acquired brain injury:

The acquired brain injury program is designed to provide support for clients and families through the recovery journey from traumatic brain injury. These injuries include, stroke, brain tumor, aneurysm and other causes resulting in physical, cognitive and emotional changes.

Respite care or relief for family:

Respite care is short-term care where your loved one stays in a facility temporarily or when the family caregiver takes a leave of absence from caring for their love ones. This gives the caregiver a block of time to rest, travel or attend to other things.

Caring for one’s family can be very rewarding and creates strong connections within a family. At the same time care giving can be very demanding when families are faced with other responsibilities. Through our respite program, family caregivers can benefit from a well needed temporary break in order to take care of their own well-being. This temporary break serves to recharge the family caregiver in order for them to resume their role in an effective and efficient manner.
